As the year 2023 came to a close, Australia's air travel apps saw a mixture of highs and lows in terms of downloads and user activity. Sensor Tower's data offers a glimpse into the performance of these apps on the unified platform during the 4th quarter.

Qantas Airways maintained a steady download trend with numbers fluctuating around 15K weekly, peaking at nearly 17K in late November. Weekly active users remained robust, averaging around 93K, with a slight dip in early December followed by a recovery towards the end of the month.

Fly Bonza, a relatively new player in the market, showed significant volatility in its downloads, which surged to nearly 25K in the third week of November. The app's weekly active users mirrored this trend, with a notable spike to over 100K in the same period, before leveling off around 98K at the year's end.

Virgin Australia's presence in the air travel app space was marked by consistent download figures, maintaining an average of around 13K per week. The app's weekly active user count hovered in the mid-40K range, peaking at 47K in mid-November.

Flightradar24 | Flight Tracker stood out with not only downloads and active users but also revenue generation. Downloads for the app showed an upward trend, particularly in mid-December, reaching over 15K. Weekly active users followed suit, with an impressive jump to over 51K during the same period. In terms of revenue, Flightradar24 maintained an average of around $13K per week, with a peak of $19K in mid-December.

Lastly, Jetstar witnessed a steady download count, averaging around 10K per week, with weekly active users reflecting a consistent engagement of around 16K to 18K throughout the quarter.
